A day well spent

 Evey slept until 6:30am! 

She was tired from all the traveling. It was cute how she woke up. She sat up her in crib and just played with the bee stuffies she has in there. She waited patiently until she heard her brothers wake up. Once she heard them she started babbling louder. 

We had a pretty chill day today. We did our weekend laundry and prepped for the week. Laney continued getting her room ready and since Evey was over her cold, I cleaned up her room and changed her sheets. The boys straightened up the playroom and played for a while. 

Since I was in the cleaning mood, I cleaned Evey's highchair and switched it for a booster. We are trying it this week to see how she does sitting in it at the table. I think sitting at the table will get her ready to start using utensils and grabbing her cup more. She did grab her cup today and tried to bring it to her mouth but her hand strength is just not there yet. 

She and Ty took a bath together tonight and Evey had a ball! I lathered her up with lotion and put on flannel PJS. The kids all wore their pjs inside out in hopes for some snow tonight. 


For a Monday, I felt like we got a lot done but also got to rest as well. We are ready for whatever tomorrow brings!

 Grumpy Happy Grumpy, Happy! That was the pattern for today. Evey slept in until 6:15 this morning and when I went into her room she greeted me with a solid, "heeeeey". I got her up and brought her into our room to get dressed but she soon got agitated when Mr. Ty smothered her with hugs and kisses. I brought her downstairs to eat her daily waffle and she did not want anything to do with it. She drank some of her milk but was not interested in that either. I ended up bolus ( BIG 2oz Syringe) feeding the rest  through her gtube and when she leaned forward it all came out of her mouth. I had to change her outfit. When she saw her nurse and changed her outfit she became a happy little girl who played while mommy worked on school stuff. She worked on getting in the crawling position with the nurse and pulling up on the nurse from sitting position. She even played at her activity table on her knees. We got hit!

  The stomach bug came swiftly through our house. Thankfully only Evey and I have gotten it, but it took me and Evey out yesterday and today. I made it to work, but I was super tired and had to move slow. In hindsight, I should have stayed home to sleep it off, but with Joshua working the middle school game, I had to make sure the kids had a ride home. Evey is still getting over it and was super tired today and did not want to eat or drink. I had to give everything  through the gtube. Hopefully tomorrow she will want to eat.  This weekend before all the sickness hit us, we had fun! We were able to go to a new antique shop and look around. Laney found some cute earrings and a cup. I found a cute chair for our dining room, the boys found a sticker for their water bottles and Joshua found a piece of history. The boys got a haircut and Evey was able to relax. We tried a new trick to help her start using her pincer grasp and she loved it! She has definitely learned how to hold...

Perspective

As teachers we are able to get a 7-8 week break between June and August. Some people wonder why we get the break while others understand why we get the break. For us, we are able to spend more time with our children together as a family without having to worry about lesson plans, parents, administration etc. We really get to focus on our relationship with each other and with each of our kids. It really is a blessing to be able to be at home with them during the summer break.  A lot of people ask how Joshua and I manage being around each other all the time especially since we teach at the same school. It's not easy but it's not hard either. We choose to make it easy or make it hard. Have there been arguments? Of course! Have there been times where we each feel like we need a break from the kids for "me" time? YES! Have we had to sit the kids down and talk to them about how to communicate better with each other?
