More please!

 Today was a good day!

Evey woke up HUNGRY! She ate her regular waffle and still wanted more so I gave her another waffle to enjoy. She wasn't into drinking her water as much today- I think she misses her milk. Hopefully by Thursday we can slowly reintroduce it back into her diet. 

She did a lot of independent play with the nurse so she was happy when we came home and we played with her. She did communicate snack on her device throughout the day so she is learning how to use it. It really helps to know what she wants. I just need to add waffle to her choices so that she can get really good at it. 

I made chicken casserole for dinner and Evey LOVED it. After we ate dinner we facetimed PatPat and Joe Joe so that they could see the kids opening their Valentine's gifts from them. They all enjoyed the goodies and Evey enjoyed talking on the phone. She now gets mad when she can't see Pat Pat or Joe Joe on the phone and the others want to be in the picture. She has to have them all to herself. 


Evey ended up scooting herself under the couch so Laney snapped some pictures of her. She was proud of herself. She got some good snuggles with Laney tonight while I cleaned up the kitchen and helped Jonah with his Valentine's cards for school. 


It was a great calm night and everyone went to sleep quickly! Hope for tomorrow looks bright!

 Grumpy Happy Grumpy, Happy! That was the pattern for today. Evey slept in until 6:15 this morning and when I went into her room she greeted me with a solid, "heeeeey". I got her up and brought her into our room to get dressed but she soon got agitated when Mr. Ty smothered her with hugs and kisses. I brought her downstairs to eat her daily waffle and she did not want anything to do with it. She drank some of her milk but was not interested in that either. I ended up bolus ( BIG 2oz Syringe) feeding the rest  through her gtube and when she leaned forward it all came out of her mouth. I had to change her outfit. When she saw her nurse and changed her outfit she became a happy little girl who played while mommy worked on school stuff. She worked on getting in the crawling position with the nurse and pulling up on the nurse from sitting position. She even played at her activity table on her knees. We got hit!

  The stomach bug came swiftly through our house. Thankfully only Evey and I have gotten it, but it took me and Evey out yesterday and today. I made it to work, but I was super tired and had to move slow. In hindsight, I should have stayed home to sleep it off, but with Joshua working the middle school game, I had to make sure the kids had a ride home. Evey is still getting over it and was super tired today and did not want to eat or drink. I had to give everything  through the gtube. Hopefully tomorrow she will want to eat.  This weekend before all the sickness hit us, we had fun! We were able to go to a new antique shop and look around. Laney found some cute earrings and a cup. I found a cute chair for our dining room, the boys found a sticker for their water bottles and Joshua found a piece of history. The boys got a haircut and Evey was able to relax. We tried a new trick to help her start using her pincer grasp and she loved it! She has definitely learned how to hold...

Perspective

As teachers we are able to get a 7-8 week break between June and August. Some people wonder why we get the break while others understand why we get the break. For us, we are able to spend more time with our children together as a family without having to worry about lesson plans, parents, administration etc. We really get to focus on our relationship with each other and with each of our kids. It really is a blessing to be able to be at home with them during the summer break.  A lot of people ask how Joshua and I manage being around each other all the time especially since we teach at the same school. It's not easy but it's not hard either. We choose to make it easy or make it hard. Have there been arguments? Of course! Have there been times where we each feel like we need a break from the kids for "me" time? YES! Have we had to sit the kids down and talk to them about how to communicate better with each other?
