21 months
It's cool that Evey turned 21 months in March! It symbolizes the 21st chromosome where Tri21 comes from!
These past two days have been busy for Evey. Her old nurse, Carolina, comes on Monday and Tuesday now and she makes sure she works Evey until she is tired. She gave Evey a bath on Monday and Evey didn't like it, but I am pretty sure she just needs to get use to Carolina giving her the bath in the big bath tub. They went on walks both days so Evey was able to enjoy the nice weather.
We went to Ty's preschool to enjoy a Mardi Gras pancake supper and it was fun for all. Evey saw a little girl her age walking around and she kept turning her head to follow her and smiling. If Evey could walk, I am pretty sure she would have gone up to her and played with her. Inclusion is so important because if Evey is not around her typical peers she won't be able to learn from them. Being around her nondisabled peers will push her to reach higher expectations. She is very curious right now and is wanting to learn and do hard things.
She is also wanting to push boundaries so we are setting good expectations now. She is becoming a two year old so learning how to accept No as an answer is a lesson we will be working on. She loves to pull on her g tube extension so we are telling her and modeling for her "quiet hands". She is beginning to get the hang of it and I am having to do less modeling. I am pretty sure she is inadvertently telling us that she doesn't want the gtube anymore and is threatening us by pulling on it!
Ty likes to help hold the syringe and Evey enjoys him holding it. Today, he said his arm was starting to hurt after holding it for 10 seconds. We will be working on his endurance!
I am attending an advocacy course online so that I can become a better advocate for Evey. I am licensed to teach K-12 special education in the general curriculum and also teach the extended content standards for severe profound, but I do not know much around EC early intervention to preschool years. I want to learn more so that I can be the best advocate for her as she turns into a preschooler.
We have hope in all that is in store for her as she gets older!
Be like a bee-hardworking, wise and delicate!
