 Evey has been busy chatting!

She received a dancing and talking cactus for Christmas and tonight she started talking to it, and it talked back so she kept going with it. It was pretty funny!

She had a great weekend hanging out at her cousin's birthday party while the big kids had fun jumping and riding go carts! We got to spend some time outside on both Saturday and Sunday and she loved it. She loves playing on her blanket and swinging in her swing. She got up Saturday morning and hung out with Jonah in his bed while mommy was brushing her teeth and daddy was making her breakfast. She loved being in a big bed. 



She got to hang out with Laney after her nap on the couch and eat a snack. She loves to cuddle with Laney and she almost pulled herself up on the couch to get to her today! 

She loves to laugh at Ty. For some reason whatever motion he does, she laughs and laughs. We heard giggles coming from the playroom so we went in there and saw Ty leaping from the trampoline and when he landed, Evey would laugh and laugh. 




Her little personality is beginning to come out and we LOVE it. She loves to observe us and try to do the things we do. The boys were coloring at church today so she got herself a crayon and started drawing too. She watches everyone eating or chewing gum and she will mimic the motion, then she will grab or whine for whatever food you are eating. We have to stop her a lot of times from eating and tell her, "all done" so that she knows there is no more food. She has been spitting up a lot so we know her stomach is getting over filled.

She has a full week of therapies this week: Tuesday through Friday she has some kind of therapy. Once Saturday hits she gets a break and we let her just play freely. A lot of times we see all the hard work she has put in the week and cheer her on. We are so happy that she loves going to all of her therapies and she works hard during her therapies. She is truly motivated to learn all of the skills!

 Grumpy Happy Grumpy, Happy! That was the pattern for today. Evey slept in until 6:15 this morning and when I went into her room she greeted me with a solid, "heeeeey". I got her up and brought her into our room to get dressed but she soon got agitated when Mr. Ty smothered her with hugs and kisses. I brought her downstairs to eat her daily waffle and she did not want anything to do with it. She drank some of her milk but was not interested in that either. I ended up bolus ( BIG 2oz Syringe) feeding the rest  through her gtube and when she leaned forward it all came out of her mouth. I had to change her outfit. When she saw her nurse and changed her outfit she became a happy little girl who played while mommy worked on school stuff. She worked on getting in the crawling position with the nurse and pulling up on the nurse from sitting position. She even played at her activity table on her knees. We got hit!

  The stomach bug came swiftly through our house. Thankfully only Evey and I have gotten it, but it took me and Evey out yesterday and today. I made it to work, but I was super tired and had to move slow. In hindsight, I should have stayed home to sleep it off, but with Joshua working the middle school game, I had to make sure the kids had a ride home. Evey is still getting over it and was super tired today and did not want to eat or drink. I had to give everything  through the gtube. Hopefully tomorrow she will want to eat.  This weekend before all the sickness hit us, we had fun! We were able to go to a new antique shop and look around. Laney found some cute earrings and a cup. I found a cute chair for our dining room, the boys found a sticker for their water bottles and Joshua found a piece of history. The boys got a haircut and Evey was able to relax. We tried a new trick to help her start using her pincer grasp and she loved it! She has definitely learned how to hold...

Perspective

As teachers we are able to get a 7-8 week break between June and August. Some people wonder why we get the break while others understand why we get the break. For us, we are able to spend more time with our children together as a family without having to worry about lesson plans, parents, administration etc. We really get to focus on our relationship with each other and with each of our kids. It really is a blessing to be able to be at home with them during the summer break.  A lot of people ask how Joshua and I manage being around each other all the time especially since we teach at the same school. It's not easy but it's not hard either. We choose to make it easy or make it hard. Have there been arguments? Of course! Have there been times where we each feel like we need a break from the kids for "me" time? YES! Have we had to sit the kids down and talk to them about how to communicate better with each other?
