It's Bee season!
The busiest time of year
The end of July marks the end of the summer for most teachers. AUGUST starts one of the busiest times of year for teachers as we get back to our classrooms and plan for the upcoming year. It can be exciting, but also stressful at the same time. We are given one week to go over all the safety procedures, get plans ready, get our rooms ready for open house and first day of school, go over important paperwork for students and ourselves and listen to our administration go and on about rock bands or Shakespeare and how it relates to the important work we do each and every day. 😜
Evey has been busy getting ready to go home as well! It's officially bee season and she has made so much progress she is officially on the step down unit. One could say that she is on her way to her beehive. Soon Joshua and I will be learning how to take care of her at home. We will be relearning cpr, learning how to take her pulse, learning how to insert a feeding tube and working a feeding pump and learning how to manage a pulseox.
They will need to wean her off the TPN and lipids and she will need to be on all breast milk or fortified milk before coming home. She will need to keep her saturation between 75-85. She decided that after 4 days of being off of oxygen that she missed it and wanted it back. She is currently on .50 liters and weaning her way down to .25. She will also need to pass the carseat test. We have been told that all of this could take up to two weeks.
Two weeks is when we will start workdays at school and Ty will be going back to childcare. It's going to be super busy but also rejoiceful. We have been patiently waiting to have her home.
We are praying she will make it home soon and the transition from hospital to home will be smooth. Lastly, we are praying that the stress of starting a new school year and having a new born home will be minimal.
We cannot wait to have her at our beehive and officially be under one roof!
Sweet picture of Evey looking into Jonah's eyes.
