19 months

Evey turned 19 months old today!

Today, her nurse came back to be with her after the holiday break. Joshua, Laney, Jonah and I were able to get the upstairs cleaned while the nurse took care of her.

This morning we had a check in with the PCNC (Pediatric Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Clinic) from Duke. When I talk about this appointment I alway say PICNIC- It's just fun to say. Lots of times these appointments are virtual because I just fill them in on all the developmental milestones she is reaching. Sometimes they want to see her in person to update any exercises we can do with her. Today was a virtual appointment.

Evey loves to facetime on the phone so when her Nurse Practitioner answered, Evey said, "HUUHEEY". Her way of saying, "hey". We both giggled. We went over the growth and what she has been eating and drinking lately and then she was able to see how Evey moves on the floor. Evey sure showed out! She was able to show that she could move around in circles, go from reaching down to the floor and back up to the sitting position and even showed her how she could ALMOST get into the crawling position on her own. They got to hear her talk and try to feed me a piece of her  pretend tea cakes! All in all the appointment went well and we have a new plan for her feeding journey!

We are now going to decrease her toddler formula amount to twice a day and let her eat more food and drink more water. We think this will help her constipation and will allow her to get more calories from real food instead of an odd tasting protein vitamin rich drink. Lots of babies with Down Syndrome stay constipated so finding the best way to handle it is crucial! We are going to up her intake of prune juice and water and give her miralax every other day. We do not want her to become dependent on miralax so we are going to try all the natural remedies first!

She was in a super playful mood today and wanted to feed me every chance she could take. She loved having her nurse back today and smiled every time she saw her and would shimmy herself to her so that she could cuddle. She took an early nap today so she went straight to bed at 6:30 tonight!

She ate a ton of food today! A whole waffle at breakfast, a whole nutrigrain bar at snack, a pbj sandwich with goldfish and applesauce, cheese crackers at snack and TWO pancakes for dinner! Laney made us pancakes tonight and they were DELICIOUS!

Tomorrow is a teacher workday so she will be up and ready by 6am so that Joshua and I can prepare for students to come back on Monday.

We are hoping tomorrow she will be able to POOP!

Be like a bee-hardworking, wise and delicate!
