Smartypants

 She is smart!

That's all I heard at her reevaluation of occupational and physical therapy. I have always known she is smart, but hearing it from therapists who have only met her once before only made it better!

Trying to work on the pincer grasp

We talked a lot about how we need to add more time on her IFSP (individualized family service plan)- basically an IEP for infants through toddlers. She will get an IEP by the time she turns three. We talked about how she is only getting sensory skills from her OT when she really needs to work on her fine motor skills- stacking blocks, holding a utensil, scribbling- the skills needed to help strengthen her hands so that she has more stability in them to begin crawling. The OT kept saying she can learn anything, it's her physical ability to do something is where we need to focus. She assured me that between her and the team, they will come up with a plan for her to either receive outside services or get the school on board to give her more individualized therapy focusing on the skills she needs to move forward.

I really wish we could get outside therapy on top of what she is getting at the school, but since my insurance and medicaid is paying for the services, they can only be given through one community outreach through the CDSA. Could I seek private therapy? Yes, but at possibly $240 or more a session out of pocket, the total cost of therapy for both OT and PT would be close to $1000 a week. Hopefully we can find a solution so that she gets the therapy she needs!

Besides all the appointments, Evey had a restful day at home. Her drainage is starting to clear up, but her doctor wants her to stay at home one more day to get more rest and for us to be able to push more liquids and saline solution.

It was just me, Ty and Evey at the house tonight so we had a picnic supper in the living room. Evey doesn't throw her food as much when she eats on the floor so it's a win win for all. We had fun taking pictures with our wild hair and Ty got to help give Evey a bath. She loved it. She took a good long bath and was able to get more mucus out. She let me put her hair in a ponytail and fell asleep quickly at 7pm.

She is sleeping  soundly now and I know tomorrow she will get good rest being at home with no distractions!

Be like a bee- hardworking, wise and delicate!
