Snowy Sunday
Snowy Sunday!
We all woke up around 6:30 this morning to a cold bright day! We looked at the weather and said, "Nope it's not going to happen!" We got to church and listened to a wonderful sermon on how Jesus is the one and only Lord and no matter who our boss is on earth, He is the EXALTED Boss! Once we got out of service we looked at the weather app and it said wintery mix. We would be lucky to see any snow!
When we dropped Evey off at nursery, she cried for a minute but all the ladies that were in there had kept Evey before and were so glad they got to be with her that Evey was able to settle down quickly. When we picked her up she was happily sitting and playing with the other one year olds that were in there and was SUPER happy to see us!
After we ate lunch, the skies started getting more gray. There were golfers golfing and it seemed like we were in for rain. When Evey woke up from her nap, we heard Ty shout, "IT'S SNOWING!" This is his 2nd time in his lifetime that he has seen snow. The first time he saw it was in December and when I pointed it out to him, he did not know what to call it. Poor kid was born in 2020 and had never seen snow! Evey was too busy eating her goldfish to see the snow.
The kids loved watching the snow. We only got one tenth of accumulation, but the kids still went outside to scrape it off the slides and whatever toys they could find to build snowballs. Living in southeast Greensboro doesn't give us much of a chance to get a lot of snow like when we lived in Hamilton Forest.
Evey scooted across the room again today to get a cup that one of the big kids ( ahem! Jonah!) left out. She was so HAPPY to finally get to it and play with it. She is getting more curious about different items and will put anything in her mouth. We have been teaching the kids to make sure to always pick up things when they see them so that she doesn't put them in her mouth. It's a work in progress!
Tomorrow is a two hour delay for the kids and Joshua and I will be taking Evey to Duke for a few follow up appointments. She will be going to Audiology to get her hearing checked out. Even though we know she can hear very well, children with tri21 often have hearing loss at some point and we have to follow up every 6 months to get her checked. The last time she had an ear infection, the pediatrician pointed out how amazed he was to see that her ear canals were bigger than what he had expected. Children with tri21 often have smaller ear canals as well, but I think Evey sucking her thumb since utero has helped her have bigger ear canals! Well at least that is my theory!
After audiology, we will be going to Neurology at Lennox Baker for a follow up from her seizure like activities that she had in September and to follow up with her Charcot Marie Tooth disease. After we go through that appointment we will head back to Duke for her gastroenterology appointment to get her Gtube checked out and to make sure we are on the right track to hopefully getting it taken out by her 2nd birthday!
We ended the day with Joshua grilling steaks and eating a wonderful dinner and then all of us in the playroom playing Spot it. Ty impressed me with how quick he could spot the items, Jonah made me laugh while playing because he would just call out all the items he saw, and Laney and I had an all out battle trying to spot it first! Evey would squeal in the background from all the noise we were making! She soon got tired around 6:30, so we got everyone upstairs to get ready for bed!
I will make sure to update everyone tomorrow about all of the appointments!
Be like a bee-hardworking, wise and delicate!
