What a Wednesday!
Evey woke up with rotten egg smelling diarrhea.
I got her changed and offered her something to eat and drink and she refused all of it. The nurse hadn't arrived by 645 so I checked in and she said no one reached out to let her know that she needed to come. Usually they are good at following up to let the nurse know about discharge and all that, but it got slipped through the crack. I let her know that next time I would text her updating her of the situation. Evey had another round of diarrhea so I changed her and got her loaded in the car with Ty to take him to childcare.
She enjoyed being out in the fresh cold air and Ty enjoyed showing her off to all the adults in the building. She even cried a little when I had to put her in the car and Ty left. I think she thought she was going to get to stay and play. Once we got home, all she wanted was for me to hold her. I went ahead and gave her pedialyte and cuddled her for a bit. She ended up having another round of diarrhea right before the nurse and her case manager got there, so I changed her and let the nurse do her assessments. Once the nurse did her assessments she let out the longest fart and when we looked, it went all up her back so we changed her clothes for the third time. After the case manager left, she got settled and I was able to head into work.
The nurse reported that she had a good day of eating and that she bolused all of her liquids. When I got home she had just woken from a nap and seemed hungry, so I bolused her milk to give her some calories since she did not want to eat a snack. After Joshua and Laney got home from the game she ate a little chicken noodle soup and drank a little from her straw cup. We cuddled a lot tonight and she went to bed in a happy mood.
Her cardiologist said that her purple feet and hands are from her blood vessels clamping down since her body is working harder to fight off the virus and she is somewhat dehydrated. So we will use her hands and feet to signal to us when she needs more fluids when she is sick from now on.
Tomorrow is the big CAP-C hearing and I was able to download a checklist from ECAC- Exceptional Children's Assistance Center. On the checklist it said that it would take 2 weeks for them to grant approval or denial ( which I never received until I called back in January 2025 after submitting the application in March 2024) I am hoping that they will use her information from March 2024- January 2025 to approve her need for CAP-C.
Between the diarrhea fiasco and the constant cuddles :) Wednesday was sweet and sour. I am glad tomorrow is Thursday and Evey has another day to rest up and get better!
Be like a bee- hardworking, wise and delicate!
