God is bigger than our worries

We have had a lot going on these past two weeks!

Evey is ALMOST crawling! She is saying more and is enjoying life. We got word that we may lose her nursing services with Thrive since insurance is saying she no longer needs level 2 nursing care. While this is good news, we don't want to lose Thrive as Evey's caretakers while we are at work. Both nurses that work with Evey love her and go the extra mile to make sure she progresses in all of her skills.

When I heard that we might be losing the services, I let stress take over and it totally overwhelmed me. I got on the phone with CAPC to see how long it would take to get a nursing aide in place and asked a bunch of questions. I was in a state of stress for about three days until I heard someone say: God is bigger than our worries. God can do big things and we have to let Him take control of everything in our lives. It's the only way to really let go of what we want and  let God do what He wants in our lives. I know I will be stressed some days, but letting stress take over  my life is not what God wants. He wants me to give it to Him, and he will take care of it!

As of today we still have not heard if the insurance has granted Thrive to continue services. Thrive is still sending nurses each day until they know. I am hoping we hear either way by the end of this week, so that if we do need to get CAPC to find us a nursing aide, we will have spring break to look for one. I'm thankful for the time we have with her nurses!

We are going to be going back to Evey's old OT so that she can work with her on her motor skills. The new OT really wasn't helping any of the skills that Evey needs, and thankfully her old OT had a time slot that works with my schedule. It will be a lot of running around until school gets out, but we have a goal to see Evey crawl and take a few steps by her 2nd birthday and we KNOW with a great PT, OT and SMOs she will be able to do just that!

On Saturday, we got the kids photos taken for a Do Not Fear Me campaign for people with down syndrome. The kids got to dress up in beach clothes and have fun doing different poses. It took about an hour and 15 minutes but all the kids were troopers, including Evey. We can't wait to see what he comes up with for Evey's story.  He is super talented. He takes photos with a black background, then pieces them together in a wonderful painting. You can go see his stuff here. After the shoot, all the kids said, "That was fun!"

After the shoot, we went to Pleasant Garden and participated in a car show and Touch a Truck. The kids got their favorite drink and Evey got her favorite cookie from the English Rose Bake Shop and the boys loved getting into all the trucks. Ty even got to shoot water out of a fireman hose. After we got home, ate lunch and rested for a bit, the older two kids and Joshua volunteered with Urban Ministry to collect food donations at a local Food Lion. Both kids enjoyed volunteering. It was a hot, but fun day!

After church today, we cleaned up the house, prepped meals and then we went back to church for an Easter egg hunt. Evey enjoyed playing in the grass and picking up the eggs and throwing them. Ty and Jonah enjoyed running around picking up the eggs. After they picked up the eggs, they traded them in for a bag of candy. It was a fun day and fun, full weekend. We love that we have found a small church that makes disciples and really creates a sense of community. Everyone is super welcoming and builds a connection the minute you walk in the doors. God is surely in that church and we can't wait to grow deeper in our faith as we see what He has in store for our family.
